The purpose of the Information Exchange Initiative is to
enhance communications between police officers and citizens throughout various
areas of the city. The goal is to educate the high concentration of Vietnamese
immigrants by providing them with crime prevention literature, and discussing
crime prevention strategies and concerns. These citizens historically are not
very comfortable with interacting with police officers within the department. This
exchange promotes the department’s community policing and let’s citizens from
this community know that we care and are available.
