Thank you, Mattress Mack!

Injured Houston police officer credits 'Mattress Mack' for helping his recovery

HOUSTON - Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale of Gallery Furniture knows a thing or two about recliners. He also knows how to help Houstonians. The latest is a Houston Police Officer injured in the line of duty. Officer Chayne Brothers is doing a lot better but it's been a tough road.

Great Community Involvement to Support an Officer in Need

Jerry Flores took care of the Astros. Now they're rallying around him.

The text messages, calls and get-well cards started arriving from all corners of Major League Baseball by early in the morning of April 13, less than 24 hours after beloved Houston police officer Jerry Flores suffered a devastating skull fracture in a fluke fall off the back of a golf cart.

Southeast Community Comes Together to Help a Resident in Need

Officers from Southeast Patrol met Ms. Fields when she came into the Southeast Command Station with an issue. After helping her, Sgt. Cloud handed her his business card and invited her to community meetings.

She told him that her home was damaged during Hurricane Harvey and she was waiting on repairs. He offered to assist her if she ever needed anything. She called this week to tell him that she was able to get an air conditioner unit, but she did not have anyone to install it.  That is when Sgt. Cloud told her the community service officers would come out to help.

Along with the help of carpenter Mr. Billy, the Southeast officers stepped in to help Ms. Fields get the air conditioning unit installed properly. Pictured are Ms. Fields, Mr. Billy, Officer Winn, Lt. Carey, and Sgt. Cloud. Great work by the community in Southeast Houston!

Gun Safety

Central Back to School

Yesterday was a huge success for over 400+ Elementary/Middle School students. The Central Achiever's Backpack and Supply Drive would have not been possible without the support of the community! Special Thanks To: Central Patrol (Captain Guinn-Shaver, Lt. Davis, Sgt. Roque, Sgt. Wall, Sgt. Gonzales), Pepsi Co, Staples Inc., Sally M., Christ the King Church, Boys & Girls Club (Havard Club), Houston Texans Teen Club, Montie Beach Civic Organization, and HPOU. For all those who contributed and wished to be anonymous...Thank You! Finally, to the many volunteers and residents who sacrificed your resources, time, or both...Thank You!
